Biomass Boiler

Macrotec designs and manufactures biomass furnaces and biomass boilers for energy generation.

As fuel: Replace conventional fuel sources with biomass to drastically reduce fuel costs. Use sawdust, woodchips, pellets, or husks as a fuel source to generate hot water, steam or hot air.

Retrofit your conventional boiler: Retrofit a conventional HFO, diesel, gas or coal boiler.

Carbon Neutral: Biomass fuel is carbon neutral meaning your energy use does not need to have a negative impact on the environment.

Small to Large: Boiler and furnace sizes from 15 KW to 10 MW, covering most commercial and industrial applications.

A Sustainable fuel source providing Sustainable Energy.

What is Biomass?

Biomass is fuel sources derived from organic material, most often based on plant or plant based material not used for food or feed that might otherwise be a waste stream. Biomass has also been classified as a renewable energy source in the EU and UN legal frameworks, as plants can regrown and from part of the carbon cycle.

What can it be used for?

Biomass can be used for most of your energy requirements, whether for heating warm water or hot water, air to air heat exchangers, steam, or electricity. Some of the applications are:

  • Warm water boiler (≤ 110°C)
  • Hot water boiler (> 110°C)
  • Saturated steam boiler
  • Air-to-air heat exchanger

What are the Advantages of Biomass?

Biomass has transformed energy markets in the last decade, and in most cases through the responsible use of biomass resources. When used responsibly, biomass offers a multitude of advantages:

  • It reduces dependency and the use of fossil fuels. Most biomass sources also combust cleaner than the comparative fossil fuels;
  • Many biomass sources are a waste product from agricultural processes, and using it as a fuel not only eliminates this waste but is available at a very low cost;
  • Studies done show that combustion of waste biomass has less of a greenhouse effect than natural decay which releases methane instead of carbon Dioxide;
  • The combustion of biomass is carbon neutral, with the carbon dioxide being produced in the combustion cycle being converted back to oxygen by vegetation, some of which is then again combusted as a waste biomass source;
  • Provides a sustainable source of energy.

What is your Fuel options?

Fortunately, there is multiple fuel options available, most of them in the form of a waste product at a much lower cost than conventional fuels, especially if it’s your own waste stream. Some of the fuel options are:

  • Woodchips
  • Wood waste
  • Wood pellets
  • Forest waste and debris
  • Saw dust
  • Nut shells
  • Bark
  • Corn cobs
  • Pomace
  • Husks
  • Energy crops and grasses
